Why do Romanian students prefer internship programs? How much do they earn per month? "I don’t have to leave the country"
This is the time of year when students are looking for places to complete their mandatory practical training for college, and many prefer internship programs for which they are also paid.
Companies are ready to welcome eager learners, often hiring them if they prove to be good.

Ramona is a second-year Marketing student currently finishing her mandatory practical training at a human resources company and is looking for a summer internship program.
Ramona Mărășteanu, student: "You gain experience, get used to the working environment in a company and learn to communicate".
Cela, a Management student, chose to intern at a network of consulting and audit firms where she had the chance to explore various fields.
Cela Sava-Musteață: "Through this practical training, I realized that I have development opportunities in Romania, and I don’t have to leave the country".
At this company, around 200 students go through different departments to find out what suits them best, and the best ones are hired at the end.
High school students can also apply for internships during their vacation.
Alina Gheuca, senior human resources manager at a company: "What interests us is their motivation, why they want this experience. I think it's a starting point for understanding how they see themselves in a career and how they relate to work".
For IT companies, it's important that young people are eager to learn as much as possible during their internship.
Andrei Ghiorghiu, director of an IT company: "It's evident that experience cannot play an important role, so as much as we would like to go with technical questions, we realize that our goal is to finalize their educational plan, and therefore we look for a positive attitude, one that is very eager to learn".
According to a study involving 1,600 participants, students are generally interested in engineering, marketing, consulting, finance and IT.
Maria Marin, a representative of a human resources company: "The most appreciated programs were those offering further growth opportunities. Knowledge and stability were primary criteria, and benefits were also a decisive factor in choosing future opportunities".
A student can earn up to 2,000 lei per month in an internship program.
