As the holidays approach, students looking to work are searching for jobs. There are many positions available for waiters, bartenders or retail workers. Those who will earn the minimum wage will receive a net salary of 2,363 lei.

Lucian is a student in Mathematics and Computer Science in Cluj and has recently been accepted for a paid internship, so he will stay in the dorm over the summer. He pays 190 lei per month.

Lucian Surdu, student: "In my circle of friends, almost everyone wants to work or engage in activities to keep busy over the summer".

The number of students looking to work during the summer is large, and the job offers are varied.

Student: "I want to stay here and work".

Student: "I work until the end of summer".

Among the most sought-after summer jobs are receptionist positions, where the salary ranges between 500 and 700 euros, bartender-waiter, tour guide or delivery driver. In retail, students can get positions, such as cashier or sales associate, with salaries ranging between 550 and 850 euros.

A restaurant chain in the capital, for example, has over 200 seasonal positions for students.

Ionuț Păun, HR Director: "These are fairly simple jobs, easy to learn, such as waiter assistant, cook assistant, hostess or bartender assistant. After the summer job period, many of them stay on to work weekends or only on their days off from university".

Ana Vișian, Marketing Director of a recruitment platform: "Employers look at the candidates' motivation, how much they want to learn, and may give them a test in the field they want to work in. Their attitude is important".

Companies that hire students during the holiday period can also benefit from a financial incentive of 330 lei per person per month from the National Employment Agency. However, last year, only 35 companies signed agreements with the agency due to bureaucracy.
