Although they were eliminated from EURO 2024 after the match against the Netherlands in the round of 16, Romania's team had a spectacular run at an international competition for the first time in the last 24 years.

Young Romanian footballers have managed to awaken, for the first time, a sense of pride among supporters from their generation, a feeling they had never known before, as they themselves admit.

The last matches of the national team that brought people to the streets were 24 years ago, when most of Gen Z hadn't even been born yet.

"VOX: I've never felt anything like this, coming to the square to support Romania. I've never experienced this.

REPORTER: How does it feel?

VOX: Very beautiful. I've been to the stadium before, but... We conceded a goal! We conceded a goal, no problem.

VOX: We need to keep loving Romania. I think Romania is starting to wake up, in every way, and we need to continue this project.

VOX: We are 21 years old. We’ve never experienced anything like this before. Maybe we will again at 40. This is the first time we truly feel that Romania is what it should be.

VOX: I had my Bachelor exam today, but it's only now that I'm getting nervous.

VOX: It’s the Golden Generation for me. Not the Golden Generation, the Beloved Generation! They made us, as young people, experience moments we thought we’d never live. They brought us out into the streets, and that's the most important thing.

REPORTER: We lost today, but people aren’t upset. It was very good because Europe got to know us today" (young people chanting the name of the Romanian team).
