Beach, Please
The Beach, Please festival, currently being held in Costinești by the sea, is the "youngest" in the Romanian festival family and is known for its vibrant atmosphere and beach location.
Beach, Please! has a stellar lineup this year: Travis Scott, Wiz Khalifa, Anitta, Yeat, Don Toliver, Chief Keef, Ice Spice, 6ix9ine, Trippie Redd, NLE Choppa, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, City Morgue, Lil Pump, and many others.
As you can easily tell, the festival strongly focuses on a trap and hip-hop experience, expecting 120,000 young people, equivalent to the population of a medium-sized city.
Neversea Festival
It is the "younger brother" of Untold, which everyone has heard about and which we will talk about below. If you like the idea of dancing on the beach under the stars, then Neversea in Constanța is the perfect place. With a mix of electronic music, pop, and hip-hop, plus waves of fun by the sea, this festival promises unforgettable memories every year.
This year, Neversea took place from July 4 to 7 and had an impressive lineup as always: Maluma, Bebe Rexha, G-Eazy, DJ Snake, Mahmut Orhan, Don Diablo, Salvatore Ganacci, Tujamo, Alok, Steve Aoki, and many others.
Electric Castle
Now in its tenth edition, Electric Castle is a truly eclectic and electrifying experience. The festival is held at Banffy Castle in Transylvania, a picturesque place with a fascinating history.
Built in the 15th century by one of the most influential noble families in Transylvania, Banffy Castle was intentionally destroyed in 1944 by retreating German troops facing the Soviet advance.
The castle lay in ruins for decades and is now undergoing restoration. A good portion of the funds come from the organization of the festival.
Dozens of artists from various musical genres, from rock and indie to electro and hip-hop, perform every year at Electric Castle. This year, it takes place from July 17 to 21, featuring bands like Massive Attack, Bring Me The Horizon, Rema, Sean Paul, Ricardo Villalobos, Paolo Nutini, Nina Kraviz, Kungs, DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal), and many other local and international artists.
UNTOLD Festival
Untold has been voted among the top 3 festivals in Europe, alongside Tomorrowland (Belgium) and Glastonbury (UK), in the annual ranking by British publication DJ Mag, which evaluates the 100 largest festivals in the world.
Thus, UNTOLD has surpassed festivals with decades of tradition like Glastonbury, Coachella, Burning Man, and ULTRA Music.
It is probably the most famous Romanian brand worldwide, after Dracula and Dacia cars.
Untold takes place every year in early August in Cluj-Napoca, the "capital" of Transylvania. Founded in 2015, it quickly gained popularity for its vibrant atmosphere and impressive lineups from its very first edition.
This year, Untold will be held from August 8 to 11, with headliners like Sam Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia, Burna Boy, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Alok, Timmy Trumpet, Steve Aoki, Lost Frequencies, Purple Disco Machine, Salvatore Ganacci, Mahmut Orhan, Nicky Romero, Tujamo, and many others.
Myimpact Reporters Took a Tour of Costinești, Where Beach, Please Has Just Begun. Beach, Please is said to be the largest urban festival in Southeast Europe. Tens of thousands of young people are already there, and some booked their hotel rooms as early as last year.
VOX: I’m here with all my friends from Timișoara, about 40 of us. Others, the majority, only decided to come in April-May, and all the accommodation spots were already taken.
Tiberiu came from Suceava and positioned himself at the access gates from noon.
TIBERIU: I want to be the first to enter the festival.
Others came accompanied by their parents.
PARENT: Of course, I have concerns, that’s why I’m here today, concerns about the usual drugs’ temptations.
CĂTĂLINA POPOVICIU, psychologist: Unfortunately, the 'dark side' of these events is the increasingly prevalent drug use. It is essential to be aware that there are many risks involved. Sadly, overdoses, dehydration, and adverse reactions are common when discussing drug use at festivals, and in some tragic cases, these can even lead to deaths.
VOX: In the coming days, we want to create the biggest chaos possible. There’s no other way.
VOX: It’s a dream come true to have such a big artist perform here. It’s a phenomenon.
GIRLS: We’re behaving. Mom, just know that I’m having a good time, feeling good, we’re having a lot of fun.
ANDREI NICULAIE, host Virgin Radio: I think we’re going to have a big surprise from Beach, Please. It’s probably going to be the best-organized new festival in Europe, it’s already in its third edition. We’re going to have a surprise, Untold and Neversea will have an extraordinarily strong brother joining them.
