Schizoid personality disorder (SPD) is a personality disorder associated with a lack of interest in social relationships, a preference for a solitary lifestyle, and emotional coldness. The term schizoid suggests the desire of an individual to live in their own world.

Such a person is distant, prone to fantasies, and has no desire for a social life or even love relationships. As mentioned, they are cold, do not understand each other and have no intention of getting along with like-minded people, as well as fitting in the society. The paradox is that people with schizoid personality disorder dream of deep connection and understanding, but find maintaining one too stressful.

Despite this condition, people with it function well, even if they seem weird at times. This does not bother them at all. They have no problems who they are with and how others perceive them. Schizoid personality disorder can start early in life, but most often develops in the teenage years, affecting men and women equally.

Many people in our daily lives deal with this disorder, which is not uncharacteristic of Gen Z, but even great figures in history suffer from schizoid disorder. In this list we can put people like Albert Einstein - one of the greatest scientists, as well as Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. Other examples are Bill Gates, Karl Marx, Stephen Hawking, Charles Darwin and many more.
