"Young people can have more wrinkles than elderly individuals", emphasized Prof. Dr. Ana-Maria Oproiu, in an interview for a TV channel.
The main cause of wrinkles appearing in young people is smoking, the doctor said.
"Smoking, inadequate rest, alcohol consumption. We're talking about patients in general, not just girls or boys. Additionally, sun exposure impacts the skin's hyaluronic acid levels, leading to the formation of wrinkles. These wrinkles encompass both expression lines found on the forehead and around the eyes, as well as those that develop over time due to changes in volume. Some are dynamic wrinkles, and others are static", Ana-Maria Oproiu specified.
Moreover, Oproiu emphasized that toxin is used for dynamic wrinkles, for smoothing out wrinkles, and not for static wrinkles.
"Toxin is used for dynamic wrinkles, for everything related to facial expression. There was a myth in the past that if you stop getting toxin injections, your face will sag. No, your face won't sag, but it will return to the shape it had before getting the toxin. And if for a year you had a perfectly smooth face and now wrinkles start to appear, everyone will say that you've aged", added Oproiu.
Furthermore, the doctor stated that wrinkles can also appear after prolonged exposure to cold temperatures, as well as in those who engage in a lot of sports.
