Unexpected findings at the National Evaluation after a student with a grade of 3.5 filed an appeal. What was his real grade
Nearly 25,000 grades received by candidates in the National Assessment changed for the better or worse after appeals.
There were also some flagrant cases where the difference between the initial and final grades was a few points lower.

For example, a student whose grade in Mathematics increased from 3.50 to 9.75. It was a human error, say education officials who explained that the paper of another student was mistakenly attributed to him during grading.

It was the highest number of appeals in the last ten years. Almost 28,000 papers were re-evaluated. 15,000, or 53%, received additional points. For over 9,000 papers, the grade was lowered. From this quality control of grading, five students came out as big winners.
One student received over six points more because the result of a colleague was mistakenly written in the table. From a grade of 3.50, which would not have allowed access to high school, he reached 9.75.
Ovidiu Pânișoară: "The stakes are very high, on the one hand, putting the child in a situation to attend a good high school or not. Suddenly, his future changes. On the other hand, the institution of appealing everything in Romania has grown. We have the same type of appeals from students later on, and look at society. After all, this is not necessarily a bad thing. People are defending their rights".
Indeed, there were also parents who were unhappy because they spent a lot of money on private classes, who overestimated their children's performance. The paper, once in the hands of two more teachers, even lost a point.
The grades obtained in the appeal resolution phase are final. The arithmetic average of the two scores from the National Assessment is the score that counts for admission. Starting from July 11, students, accompanied by their parents and assisted by their form teachers, will fill in the forms with the high schools they wish to attend, in reverse order of preference. Each high school is represented by a code. Students with scores below 9 should fill in around 100 codes to ensure they are allocated a spot. Freshmen will find out which high school they have been assigned to on July 24.
