Red watermelon is very fattening. We also have a quantity problem. Maybe they wouldn't make us gain so much weight if they were more expensive and we had to eat less.
We have this lack of limit when it comes to fruits. Fructose does not raise blood sugar. Diabetics are allowed to eat fructose because it doesn't raise their blood sugar, but it's not because it doesn't cause weight gain. It still has four calories per gram, just like sugar.
Unfortunately, we cannot burn off fructose through physical activity. No cell functions with fructose. If we exceed 10 grams of fructose in a day, the liver has nothing to do with it and converts it into fat.
We need to have this awareness of the goodness of fruits. Fruits are good, they are natural, the healthiest dessert, but in large quantities, fruits make us gain weight.
Not all fruits are the same. Fruits that have a lot of fiber - there are special fibers in fruits called pectins that swell when in contact with water and turn into gel - are a miracle that nature has made when it put fructose in fruits, it put it with an antidote. That is, in fruits, we have fibers, we have a lot of water. This fruit pulp is like a sponge that holds fructose. So when we eat fruits, if we don't turn them into juice, the speed of fructose absorption is slower. Or even from some fruits, we can say that not much is absorbed, precisely because they have a lot of fiber.
Strawberries don't make you gain weight. They are silhouette-friendly fruits. It is even said that they have an aphrodisiac effect. We can eat them in amounts of one hundred grams, half a kilogram or even a full kilogram.
As for cherries, no. A kilogram of cherries means a small bowl, slightly filled. At most, we can hold them in two fists. So, surprisingly few cherries fit into a kilogram. It's very hard to believe that we eat five or six cherries. If you want to eat more, I would recommend either skipping a meal or having a cherry-only day.
For watermelon, we have a little secret. Red watermelon and yellow watermelon have pigments for the skin. Yellow watermelon has three times more fiber than the red one. The conclusion is that, with the same fructose content, yellow watermelon is absorbed more slowly. Yellow watermelon serves as a friend for maintaining a good silhouette".
