Over 5,000 students from Alba Iulia have created works through which they have depicted the authentic Romanian village life
The authentic Romanian village life can be admired at the museum in Alba Iulia! Over 5,000 students from 63 communities have demonstrated their skill in faithfully depicting the image of their childhood place.
All this was done within a contest aimed at instilling in the younger generation the desire to preserve local traditional values.

Over 200 models and drawings inspired by the village life were exhibited at the museum in Alba Iulia. These are just the ones rewarded with first place in the "Village of My Childhood" competition.
A model depicting in the smallest detail the traditional houses of Apuseni is the work of students from Albac.
Student: "We were inspired by our community, by our village; we depicted our grandparents' house".
Student: "We asked our grandparents how the houses used to be and we used natural elements. The roof is made of cones representing the wooden shingles as the houses used to be made. It took approximately a week".
Iuliana Scrob, teacher: "We really want to preserve traditions, to know as well as possible the art of our ancestors in building".
Andreea and her classmates from the school in Arieșeni focused on the houses from Țara Moților.
Student: "We used as natural materials as possible, branches, moss, clay materials. It took quite a long time, about 10-12 hours".
Corina Nicoară, documentary teacher: "Their childhood village, a mountain village where houses are scattered and traditions are unique, they worked quite a lot on these models".
Students from Sălciua commune created models of households from the mountain area and of tourist attractions from Apuseni.
Student: "The church was difficult to make and also to put all this moss on the ground. We used materials taken from various places, pebbles, wood, thread and a lot of cardboard".
Other students focused on the bread baking process.
Student: "It depicts my grandma's oven. Here, I aimed to portray my grandmother who used to bake bread every time we visited her".
The pieces crafted during the fourth installment of the "Village of My Childhood" contest will be on display at the museum in Alba Iulia for one month.
