On Wednesday, 31 July, a post was published on the Last Generation group's profile on X. The activists shared an image of the "Polityka" magazine cover featuring Taylor Swift dressed up as a mermaid. They asked whether the singer could be splashed with paint like the Mermaid of Warsaw statue earlier this year.

Taylor Swift's concerts at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw are fast approaching, with performances scheduled for 1, 2, and 3 August. This major event is expected to cause significant disruptions in the Polish capital, drawing extensive media coverage. Journalists from the "Polityka" magazine have also joined in, offering insights into Taylor Swift's identity and the phenomenon surrounding her. This coverage has caught the attention of activists from the Last Generation.

The Last Generation is a group of environmental activists who employ civil disobedience to combat climate change. Active in Germany, Austria, Poland, and Italy, they are known for their controversial tactics, including blocking roads and motorways and splashing orange paint on artworks and sculptures. The iconic Warsaw Mermaid has been targeted multiple times, all to draw the government's attention to climate issues.

It is well known that Taylor Swift frequently uses her private jet, contributing significantly to carbon dioxide emissions fuelling climate change. Despite criticism from environmental activists, Swift has not publicly addressed these accusations. In response, Last Generation activists are planning a special welcome for the singer, though they have not disclosed the specifics.

On Wednesday, 31 July, a post appeared on their profile on X. The climate activists seem intent on provoking the group’s critics, sharing a picture of the "Polityka" weekly cover featuring Taylor Swift. The post's description questions whether "such a mermaid can be splashed," hinting at a potentially controversial action upon the American star's arrival.

In the comments, the activists clarified that they do not intend to splash paint on Swift herself. This suggests they may target something closely associated with her, such as her plane or the equipment coach for her concerts. The details will likely be revealed when Taylor Swift arrives in Poland.
