USA: Republicans attack Taylor Swift and Swifties, her fans and followers
Following Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris, supporters of Donald Trump have launched efforts to discredit both the artist and her extensive female fanbase. Will the Swifties sway the results of the US presidential election?
On 11 September, Taylor Swift declared her support for Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential election. In response, Republicans have launched a vigorous campaign to discredit both the singer and her supporters. Their discontent was likely intensified when, just 24 hours after Swift's Instagram announcement, the voter registration page she had promoted saw a record-breaking 360,000+ visits.

Republicans attack Swiftiesâ intelligence
We have previously reported on the reactions of Donald Trump and Elon Musk to Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris. Musk's response was particularly controversial. Notably, prominent podcaster Myron Gaines joined the wave of misogynistic attacks on Swift and her fans. He remarked, "Unfortunately, her endorsement will matter A LOT. Taylor Swift's fanbase is overwhelmingly women with an IQ of 86 that lack critical thinking skills and think âTrump=bad misogynistâ."
Gaines also proposed a drastic solution: "Women are far more susceptible to propaganda than men are. If we repealed the 19th and women didn't vote, we wouldn't have to worry about Kamala being president. Women vote on emotion and celebs, which is exactly what the Democrats use in their campaigns. Facts are facts."
Could Swift's endorsement genuinely influence the outcome of the US presidential election? While it may seem unlikely, it is not beyond the realm of possibility. With less than two months remaining, the polls show a tight race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The candidate who can persuade undecided votersâthose not firmly aligned with either partyâcould secure victory.
Taylor Swift convinced the Republicans that the climate crisis is real
Even if Taylor Swift does not directly sway the election's outcome, she has achieved a significant milestone in US politics. She has managed to convince Republicans of the reality of the climate crisis. The far-right account End Wokeness, which boasts nearly 3 million followers on X, commented: "Taylor Swift emits 8,205 tons of CO2 in a year. An average American emits 16. This is who lectures us on the climate."
Interestingly, Swift did not address the climate issue in her statement on Wednesday, 11 September. However, it appears that the End Wokeness account linked her endorsement of Kamala Harris with endorsing her progressive policies as well. The comment, "Taylor is so powerful that Republicans now believe in climate change," has garnered 256,000 likes on X.
