Romania won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and an honorable mention at the 24th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad, held in Malaysia.

The country's team was mainly composed of students from the International Computer High School of Bucharest, which announced the results in a press release.

The star of the competition was Alexandru Momoiu, who won the gold medal, being the absolute winner of this edition, with the highest total score in the contest. In addition to this extraordinary result, Alexandru Momoiu also achieved the highest score in the experimental test.

The other 3 gold medals were won by Ionuț Gabriel Stan, Ion Alexandru Mirică and Rareș Felix Tudose, all students of the International Computer High School of Bucharest.

The silver medal was won by Mendel Emanuel Mendelshon, and the honorable mention was awarded to student Rareș Theodor Marinescu, both from the International Computer High School of Bucharest.

According to the cited source, "these international successes, which have become a tradition for more than two decades at the high school, are the result of the hard work and talent of exceptional students", supported by the sustained efforts of teachers Rodica Ionescu and Delia Davidescu.

Romania had, for the tenth time, the special status of guest at this competition, which was attended by 208 contestants from 28 countries.
