"400 Stitches"- the Story of Deborah from Her Personally
In a video, she told how she met her abuser in a disco in Stara Zagora. Georgi Georgiev, who caused the severe injuries to the 18-year-old girl, worked as a security guard at the night club where the two met for the first time.
The perpetrator of the brutal violence flirted with the girl, then minor. He wanted to show his divorce papers after Deborah found out that he had a child and a wife. Georgi convinced her that he was divorced.
Deborah was abused for months with slaps and punches in the stomach, Georgi forbade her to wear leggings. 😯
"I have hid the bruises with fond de teint from my mom when he was choking me, I fainted once, but he told me "I know what you are doing, you won't die," shares Deborah through tears in the video.
"We never went out in public except when I went to see him at his workplace. I haven't even been to his house," she says.
Debbie does not remember much about the terrible night in late June when she was cut with a dummy knife. "Somebody rang the intercom. I asked who it was, no one answered. On the second ring, he said, "It's me," and I opened the door. I saw a blue medical glove being handed over. He was wearing a mask, but I recognized him. I saw the dummy knife in one of his hands, I didn't realize what was happening. I thought he was just messing with me. The last thing I remember was that he was swinging his fist", says the girl. 😢
After that, she remembers only the neighbor from whom she sought help.
"My skin was hanging off my arms and legs," she says. They stitched her up in the hospital 400 times without anesthesia, as she had lost a lot of blood and there was a danger of poisoning.
Deborah categorically stated that if she saw Georgi Georgiev, she would smile at him exactly as he did at the cameras and pass by him.
After the brutal act, Debbie shut herself off and stopped interacting with people. The many thousands of protests that flooded Bulgaria seem to have revived her.
The horrific act took place at the end of June, but the case gained widespread public attention at the end of July. The attack was reported around 11:30 p.m. on 26 June. On 27 June, the culprit was detained for 24 hours; at that time he had had imposed punishment of "probation" from January this year for a similar crime. He was released with a decree by the Regional Court, after the court considered that, according to the evidence collected in the case, the crime qualified as "slight bodily harm".
