The choice of Gen Z consumers goes entirely to games, and it is true not only because of their entertainment value. Many gamers consider this activity as a way of expression and a means of communication.

Teenagers aged 14 to 19 are highly intrigued by this recreational activity. Surveys show that three out of 10 of Gen Z say that games are their favorite pastime.

Why do Gen Z choose games?

Many young gamers report that they gain social and emotional benefits from gaming. 70% of Gen Z say video games help them stay connected with others from this generation. These benefits could alleviate parents' concerns about spending too much time playing games.

The coronavirus pandemic has definitely helped make video games be considered by teenagers as a way to socialize. When they had to stay at home and could not see their friends, they came together in the world of video games, and this interactive activity can have an addictive power. More than 60% of Gen Z gamers say that creating social connections while playing was important to them even before COVID-19, suggesting that for many this feeling is not entirely driven by the pandemic.

It is considered that teenagers devote several hours of their week to gaming. At the same time, video game companies want to attract and retain Gen Z gamers on their products.

Although teens do not have the greatest spending power right now, they can form entertainment habits that will last into adulthood. Thus, they will become adult gamers with money to spend.

Teens value bonding and positive interaction during gaming. Game creators can put emphasis on and encourage fair play in games and dialogue among teenagers.

Gen Z are drawn to games for their engaging and socializing features. They see great benefits from gaming - from social bonding to self-expression.
