A young activist from Sweden was sentenced by a Swedish court for disobeying police orders during an environmental protest.

Greta Thunberg is a 20-year-old climate activist from Sweden. For many years she has been trying to draw public attention to the problems the world is facing. She regularly takes part in protests, which are usually followed by her facing the justice system. The initiator of the Youth Climate Strike heard another sentence on Wednesday 11 October.

Greta Thunberg sentenced

On Wednesday 11 October, 20-year-old Greta Thunberg was fined by a Swedish court. All because of her behaviour during a protest in Malmö. In July 2023, she and other activists blocked the road for oil trucks at the port. During the protest, the police intervened but Greta Thunberg refused to voluntarily surrender herself to them and, as a result, she was charged.

Greta Thunberg admitted to ignoring police instructions. She was fined 4,500 kroner. This is the equivalent of €392. However, the girl stressed that she does not regret her behaviour.

The 20-year-old activist said that she will not appeal the court's verdict. Instead, she stressed that she will not change her approach to the fight for climate. She indicated that she will continue to organise protests because it is her moral responsibility to do so and that she is not afraid of the consequences associated with it.
