On Thursday, 20 June, an intriguing video appeared on the social media of the organisation Just Stop Oil. The climate activists expressed their displeasure at the numerous flights taken by Taylor Swift, who frequently uses a private jet, even for outrageously short distances.

Taylor Swift, a singer, songwriter, and composer, dominates the music world. In the spring of 2023, she embarked on her world tour, 'The Eras Tour'. This tour became an instant hit, with tickets selling out in the blink of an eye, prompting the artist to add more shows in many cities due to overwhelming demand. Additionally, her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, has been number one on the Billboard 200 chart for two consecutive months.

There is no doubt that Taylor Swift knows what success tastes like, and she has undeniably earned it. However, the artist regularly faces criticism from both fans and climate activists. She frequently uses her private jet, even for very short flights, which generate substantial amounts of carbon dioxide. In 2022, she topped the list of celebrities contributing to air pollution. Activists from the organisation Just Stop Oil decided to express their displeasure with her actions.

Just Stop Oil, a UK-based environmental organisation, is fervently dedicated to persuading the government to halt new fossil fuel licences and cease production. Since its inception in 2022, the Just Stop Oil activists have been stirring up a storm of emotion and controversy with their bold actions, often labelled as vandalism. Just Stop Oil is notorious for splashing famous paintings, statues, and planes with coloured liquids.

Taylor Swift has also caught the attention of these activists. A video on Just Stop Oil's social media showed activists sneaking onto the airstrip in Stansted, London, where the artist's jet was reportedly parked. As a protest against her significant carbon dioxide emissions, the activists attempted to splash her plane with an orange substance. Ultimately, they failed to do so, as it was later revealed that Swift’s plane was not among the jets present on the runway.

In the past, Taylor Swift has never addressed allegations regarding her use of private jets. She will likely remain silent on this occasion as well. The artist is focused on touring and spending time with her partner, so she is unlikely to stop arranging frequent and short flights.
