The Return Guarantee System is attracting more and more users. However, disinformation has started to appear on the Internet
The Return Guarantee System is gaining more and more users in Romania. In the four months since its launch, around 100 million plastic, aluminum and metal packages have been collected.
Even on the Internet, people are posting various recordings showing how they recycle. However, officials from the environment warn that there are also videos circulating online meant to misinform.

A video posted on TikTok has over a million views in 4 days. The man who filmed it claims that in a beer box, there were both bottles with the Return Guarantee System logo and without it.
Such errors, says the Minister of the Environment, cannot be made on the production line. Especially since most producers have automated lines.
Mircea Fechet - Minister of the Environment: "I spoke with representatives of the manufacturer, and in no case can there be in the same packaging, in the same six-pack as we call it, both beer produced last year and beer produced this year. On the production line, we either have SGR packaging or non-SGR packaging. There is no possibility to have 2 of one kind and 4 of another kind. I believe that either due to an error or intentionally to propagate fake news, they replaced 2 newer bottles with 2 older bottles and tried to attract many likes".
Also, on the Internet, funny videos promoting recycling have started to appear.
In the first 4 months since the launch of the Return Guarantee System, 100 million packages have been recovered. And by the end of the year, the target is for 65% of the packages put on sale to be recycled.
According to a Kantar study commissioned by RETURO, over 50% of those interviewed said they had recycled packages with the SGR logo.
Of these, 25% say they recycle constantly, and 58% have done so at least 3 times.
Through the Return Guarantee System, approximately 7 billion packages are expected to be recovered annually.
