Sara Vulpescu, a student: "I'm currently in the 12th grade and my decision to attend a foreign college came relatively late, around the 10th grade. In Barcelona, at a business and management college. What they will consider most is the application file, including the cover letter, recommendations and an essay on various topics".
Mihai is a 12th-grade student and wants to study medicine in Berlin. In parallel with preparing for the high school graduation exam, he is also improving his knowledge of the German language.
Mihai Saftoiu, a student: "I need a fairly high level of proficiency in German and English and also high scores on the high school graduation exam. The admission exam is optional in Germany, but it's best to take it. It involves several tests of spatial thinking, logical reasoning and memory, following a distinct format compared to the exams in our country".
Nona Colfescu, an educational consultant: "In the UK, the cover letter accounts for 80% of the evaluation, which is why a significant amount of time is dedicated to its writing and revision. When considering other universities in Europe, the cover letter typically makes up around 60% of the evaluation, with the remaining portion based on academic performance and extracurricular activities. In the USA, everything matters. Transcript grades, extracurricular activities and volunteering".
The preparation sessions with these educational consultants can cost from a few hundred to several thousand euros, depending on their number and how complex the application file is. It also matters whether the company is from Romania or abroad.
