Several metropolises and bishoprics across Romania are organizing summer camps. What will the children do there?
Several metropolises and bishoprics across the country are organizing summer camps with the help of volunteers. There, children enjoy hiking, but also engage in discussions with psychologists or priests about things that concern them.
The interest is significant, say those in charge. For such a one-week experience, prices can reach approximately 1,900 lei.

In the Durău resort in Neamț, the Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina organizes summer camps for students aged 9 to 17 from July to September. The costs amount to 1,890 lei per child. Transportation, accommodation for one week and workshops are provided.
Mihaela Săvinescu, the mother of a participant: "He came in with a very positive and amazing energy. First and foremost, to socialize, to develop spiritually, emotionally and socially".
In addition to games and hikes, the kids have prayer sessions.
Bianca Doroftei, the camp's director: "Many parents are looking for a way for their children to disconnect from screens. Annually, we have between 50 and 100 children coming from all over the world".
The Orthodox Archdiocese of Alba Iulia also organizes such camps, and the demand is high. Prices start from 600 lei. Alongside priests or counselors, children have discussions on various topics.
Oliviu Botoi, cultural counselor of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Alba Iulia: "Tobacco, drugs, digital addictions, mobile phone dependency".
The Archdiocese of Cluj brings up sensitive topics to teenagers.
Oana Raluca Băilă, camp coordinator: "We also talk about sexual life, about consuming substances including drugs, about the importance of friendship. There are morning and evening prayers in each camp. Smoking and alcohol consumption are prohibited".
Petru Buran, a priest and collaborator of the camp: "Even now, two days after the start date of registration, about three camp series are already fully booked".
Some bishoprics and metropolises also prepare free activities for children from disadvantaged families.
