Due to the desire of many parents to offer extra educational support to their children, they have begun to explore more cost-effective options, such as tutoring centers.

In these centers, several pupils engage in sessions led by students. The fees in these cases are lower by 50%.

Parents of high school students are making plans for tutoring. An hour of tutoring with a teacher can exceed 100 lei.

Parent: "I believe it's necessary for them to have a few extra hours. They are quite expensive".

So more and more parents are turning their attention to students who can provide supplementary teaching. In their case, the price is halved. Codruța is in her first year of a master's in economics and offers tutoring.

Codruța, master's student: "If I didn't need the money, I would do it for free. It's a truly satisfying feeling, especially when you see the results. Many of those who contacted me deliberately sought students for tutoring".

Rareș is a senior student at the Faculty of Letters. Among his courses and seminars, he also offers English tutoring sessions.

Rareș, student: "I usually schedule my tutoring sessions so I can also attend classes".

Even tutoring centers have hired students who can work with pupils over the long term.

Eli Nistor, tutoring center representative: "Students bring a different perspective, a different atmosphere".

Sessions with a higher number of pupils simultaneously cost 80 lei.

Mirela Simion-Stânciu, tutoring center representative: "Our tutors, who are students themselves, have recently finished school and know exactly what they liked, what works and what doesn't. Prices for tutoring sessions have skyrocketed lately. Experienced teachers, especially university ones, have rates that I consider relatively absurd".

On the other hand, the number of teachers declaring the income they earn from tutoring is on the rise.

Lucian Fanea, economist: "This is also due to the current situation, where digitization is on the rise, and cash is becoming less common. They are more exposed".

The new education law also states that teachers should refrain from tutoring their own pupils from class.
