Romania ranks first in the European Union for voting intentions in the European Parliament elections among young people

Young people aged 18 to 30 from Romania are leading the Union in voting intentions for the European Parliament elections.

They state that they will go to vote, while the European average is 64%.

5% of them declared that they do not yet have the right to vote, according to the Commission's survey. 

Following Romania in the rankings are Portugal with 77% and Belgium with 69%.

Approximately 1 in 2 (49%) of the young Europeans surveyed said they have taken actions to change society, such as attending a rally or signing a petition.

In this regard, the highest percentage is observed in Romania (57%), while the lowest is recorded in Cyprus (31%), Luxembourg (33%) and Sweden (34%).

Conversely, young people from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Luxembourg seem less convinced about participating in the European Parliament elections, according to the survey.

The European average is 64%.

On June 9, Romanians are expected to go to the polls for European Parliament and local elections.
