Police officers descended on a mall in Ploiești on November 2nd! However, not in search of criminals, but in the hope of attracting new forces to join them.
The Romanian Police aim to persuade young people to choose this profession, given that recent data shows a decreasing number of high school graduates opting for such a career. This year, 1,880 positions are available for competition in specialized schools across the country.

The police officers shared their experiences with young people about the law enforcement profession, including fieldwork. Moreover, they prepared various scenarios.
However, the number of those willing to enter the system continues to decline from one enrollment session to another. Meanwhile, between 1,800 and 3,000 police officers retire annually, according to union representatives.

Denis Rotaru, a student: "I changed my mind along the way. I realized that I will always be in danger and exposed to a fairly high risk".
Ștefan Crețu, a student: "It's a quite challenging profession. And a painstaking one".
At the police school in Câmpina, over 500 positions remained vacant in the last exam session.
Cosmin Andreica, President of the Europol Union: "The reality is a sad one, namely that the salary of a police officer entering the system in the first 5 years is comparable, negatively, to the salary of a supermarket cashier on the corner of the street".
This year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened 1,880 positions for competition in police schools across the country. To apply, the candidate must have a minimum conduct grade of 9 and a high school diploma.
Mihaela Florescu, spokesperson for the Prahova County Police: "We have a deficit mainly in public order, but also in office services. We also need criminal investigators, financial experts and logistical support".
Enrollments in specialized schools end on November 5th and are done through the county police inspectorates.
