The jobs that young people have avoided for years are now in great demand. For example, the number of people who dream of becoming electricians or car mechanics has been growing significantly lately.
Those eager to enter this field either inherited the passion from their parents or discovered their skills out of curiosity and realized that they can earn good money.

The news comes as a breath of fresh air for companies in the field, as there is a large shortage of qualified staff.
Mario is a student at a technical college in Bucharest and will graduate with a degree in auto mechanics. But he has already signed a contract with one of the world’s largest luxury car manufacturers – because he made himself stand out during his practical training.
Mario Vișinescu, student: "I had a passion for engines, cars, and that helped me a lot. It’s hard at first, but with passion, if you love something, you can do it".
Marius, from Târnăveni, has the same passion, inherited from his father. He wants to open a car service.
Marius Notar, student: "When he was working on his car, I used to hang around him, helping him, as I was curious, and I inherited this passion. I love everything about cars. It will be a bit harder at first, but in time it will get easier".
According to data from the Romanian Ministry of Education, more and more young people dream of becoming car mechanics. From 2020 until last year, the number of graduates from specialized high schools increased by 10%. During the same period, 66% more electricians completed their studies. But there is a decrease in interest in the qualification of locksmith and plumber.
However, employers say they lack qualified staff and try to attract young people with all sorts of competitions and courses.
Luiza Popa, marketing director at a car battery company: "Curious, enthusiastic, sometimes unguided young people can become specialists in our industry and in the warranty department or parts department. We all face a shortage of staff, especially in the automotive industry".
Petrişor Covaciu, representative of a car parts distributor: "Lately we need workforce in the automotive field, there is a shortage in certain locations. We want to promote this profession, to make it attractive".
According to an online recruitment platform, the average net salary for a car mechanic is 4,200 lei, while an electrician earns an average of 4,700 lei.
