Five students from Iași have amazed the world by inventing pasta made from meat.

Their product is so good that the team won an award at the most important competition dedicated to inventions in the food industry.

The five students won the award for entrepreneurship at the Ecotrophelia Europe competition in Germany. The meat-based pasta was named Meatatelli.

Cosmina Liliana Ghetlam, a student: "It was an overwhelmingly beautiful experience, a stressful, but constructive one. We were aware that we would win an award, but when we found out, it was still surprising".

The pasta is 65% meat. To this they added semolina, bone broth and spices. Plus red beet powder, which gives the dish its color.

Teodora Elena Acsinte, a student: "We want to reach the end consumer by distributing this product in our specialized store at the Iași University, where it will be available for sale. In the future, we hope to distribute it in supermarkets".

A pack of 250 grams of meat pasta will cost 20 lei.

Marius Ciobanu, the project coordinator: "The prize awarded to Romania was the product prize, from an entrepreneurial point of view, which represented all the aspirations and characteristics for this classification, a product that fits in correctly, technologically and economically".

Teams from 14 European countries participated in the competition in Germany.
