Nowadays, children learn about the world through the screen of the TV, the computer, the phone. And when they grow up - through social media. This is how they get addicted, but it definitely does not reflect well on their psyche. A number of studies have shown a direct link between depression and social media use. mostly, it applies to representatives of Gen Z.

Spending too much time on social media can lead to repeating a negative cycle. When a person feels depressed, stressed, lonely or confused, they tend to visit social media more often. It can generate a feeling of dissatisfaction, isolation and even make you inadequate, which in turn can provoke more serious conditions such as stress, depression, anxiety.

More, social media can make you feel like you are "missing out something." It is identified as an emotional feeling born of a deep conviction that other people live better lives and have more fulfilling experiences. It generates feelings of loneliness and anxiety.

Posting countless selfies, expressing personal views at every possible moment can lead to an unhealthy perception of your own personality. It can consume your identity and create a huge gap between you and other people.

A recent study showed that a new mental disorder is occurring among young women. It is an emotional state when girls compare themselves and their photos with filtered footage from social media. These young ladies develop a deep conviction that they must alter their bodies in such a way so that they would look like they have been treated with a filter.

Humans are social creatures by nature. To maintain our mental health, we need to socialize. Studies prove that face-to-face contact can very quickly lower stress levels, regulate our heart rate, reduce pain and even inflammatory processes in the body. To this end, the more you replace real communication with virtual communication, the more you risk triggering or deepening the symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other similar mild mental disorders.

According to a study, 60% of teenagers have been bullied or insulted in cyberspace. The lack of regulation and rules allows more and more "bullies" to send offensive messages or spread lies. This can lead to unpleasant consequences and a persistent feeling of fear in younger users.
