Poles purchasing 300 kg of medical marijuana monthly, reports show
Poles are increasingly turning to medical marijuana, with sales of this substance growing month by month. Data reveals which provinces are leading in consumption, with the Małopolska region being the most popular.
Medical marijuana has become a significant part of the Polish pharmaceutical market. As of January 2024, several hundred kilograms of this substance are sold monthly in Polish pharmacies. But which province sells the most, and what is the monthly amount? Bartłomiej Zalewa, also known as the Hemp Pharmacist (Polish: Konopny Farmaceuta), provides the answer. The medical marijuana expert shared a video on social media with statistics on cannabis consumption by Poles.

"An analysis of medical cannabis sales in Polish pharmacies, including monthly data and regional distribution, shows that the highest sales are recorded in the Małopolskie Voivodeship," Zalewa explains in the video description.
"Polish pharmacies have been selling around 300 kg of medical cannabis per month since January 2024," he adds.
According to Zalewa, sales of medical cannabis are growing dynamically, and an analysis of the data shows significant regional variation in its consumption.
Sales leaders: Lesser Poland, Mazovia and Silesia
According to data presented by Bartłomiej Zalewa, the province where the most medical marijuana is sold is Małopolska (Lesser Poland). Residents there account for 21% of all sales in the country. The Mazowieckie Voivodeship occupies the second place with 18%, and the third by the Śląskie Voivodeship, where sales amount to just under 16%.
"The highest sales are in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, with 21%, followed by the Mazovian Voivodeship with 18% and the Silesian Voivodeship with just under 16%," Zalewa revealed, adding details on where the sales ratio is lowest.
Smallest sales in Świętokrzyskie
While some regions of Poland show a high interest in medical marijuana, others lag behind. The province with the lowest sales is Świętokrzyskie, accounting for just 0.31% of national sales.
"The province with the lowest sales is Świętokrzyskie, at just 0.31%," points out Zalewa. This shows that despite its growing popularity, medical cannabis is not yet equally common in all parts of the country.
Nevertheless, the data indicates that Poles' awareness of the benefits of medical marijuana is increasing. More and more people are convinced to use it as an alternative to traditional medicines. The data suggests that sales will continue to grow, and regional variations may diminish as education about its benefits progresses.
