Combat sports have a positive impact not only on our physique, but also on our psyche.

There are many different styles in martial arts, and if you haven't made your choice yet, you should first answer the question of why you want to practice them, then get to know them in more details. Each style exists for a reason and offers different things.

Have a look at the most popular ones:

Aikido is one of the most difficult Japanese martial arts to master. It is also a way of spiritual and physical self-improvement. The idea of this sport is to make a person learn self-defense by using the attacker’s power against themselves and how not to hit their opponent too hard. In a nutshell - disarm without injury.

Taekwondo, which is an Olympic sport, originated in Korea. It combines physical skills with mental concentration and teaches self-discipline. It is practiced by over 30 million people in 100 different countries.

Karate comes from the Japanese word for "empty hand" and it is a type of martial art that rarely uses weapons. The technique is known for medium-high stances and fight from medium distance, yet the strong will is the most prominent aspect.

Judo was created in Japan in 1882 and came to rise on the basis of jiu-jitsu. It is not necessary for judo practitioners to possess greater strength qualities than their opponents, because here, again, the strength of the opponent may turn out to be a weapon that is used against them.

Kickboxing has been quite popular lately. The reason for that is - it develops qualities such as self-discipline, endurance, coordination, will, self-control, self-confidence, flexibility, harmonious body.

You can get valuable advice from martial arts clubs, as well as in gyms where training for beginners takes place.
