You Have a Noisy Car? You Can Get a 200 BGN Fine!!!
Certainly, it has happened to you that an old car whined past you and you wondered how that wonder was still moving. Or someone whose car sounded like something out of "Fast and Furious" was driving by at an unreasonable speed.
Bulgaria is a country of contrasts, and you can often see a late-model car for half a million BGN on the road, and next to it something rattling that is at your grandmother's age. And as soon as darkness falls upon Sofia, on the skirts of Vitosha, something like a Sofia Rally (not) Monte Carlo takes place, not very legally. And the roar of the tuned monsters spreads from Boyana to the city center. The situation is probably the same in your town.
But now the police have started dealing with too noisy cars. In recent weeks, 52 cars and 5 motorbikes were taken out of the traffic in Sofia as their engines were found to exceed the permissible noise levels in an urban environment.
The Ministry of the Interior have detected that some of the cars had interventions in the noise muffling devices – i.e. strong tuning or a muffler removed. And one more thing that should be taken into account - the drivers of the 50+ cars in question taken out from traffic are mainly Gen Z – aged from 20 to 30.
This is the time to warn you if everyone in the neighborhood hears you when you go out or come home, you may be fined with 200 BGN.
How much noise can you make behind the wheel? From 74 to 106 decibels are the permissible limits for the sound of cars and motorcycles. For example, for vehicles with an engine power of less than 150 kW, 78 decibels are permissible. And over 150 kW – 80.
Hardly anyone will be surprised if we say where the "most roaring" cars were caught - along the boulevards "Cherni vrah", "Botevgradsko Shose", "Bulgaria" and "Okolovrasten Pat". Or in other words, the favorite "tracks" of the drifters in Sofia.
By the way, noise is something that attacks almost all organs and systems in the human body. Not only people outside the car, but also the driver and their passengers. From a psychological point of view, loud noise makes us more irritable and nervous and affects our mental abilities.
While the physical impact effect, first of all, our hearing, as there are cases of its total loss due to prolonged exposure to high-intensity noise. Besides, noise has a very bad effect on the nervous system, it also increases the heart rate and it can even slow down our digestive system.
