Easy Ways to Reduce the Use of Plastic
Plastic pollution is becoming a huge threat to our planet and more and more people have been realizing that and trying to change their habits. Sometimes it may seem to you that small changes do not matter, but there are really easy ways we can reduce our environmental footprint.
One of the most valuable resources on the planet - oil - is used for plastic production. Further, plastic is a material that takes a very long time to degrade in nature. It is for this reason its use has a lasting impact on environment.
A few easy ways Gen Z can reduce plastic use without much effort.
1. Stop using plastic straws.
2. Reusable bags - bring your own bags to the grocery store.
3. Avoid plastic bottles - opt for glass instead.
4. Buy fruit and vegetables from the farmer's markets where they are not wrapped in plastic.
5. Drink tap water whenever possible. Avoid plastic bottles.
6. Give up chewing gum as it is made of synthetic rubber.
7. Buy detergent that comes in cardboard boxes instead of plastic containers.
8. Shop at bakeries that wrap their bread in paper.
9. Buy cheese and cold meat that is wrapped in paper.
10. Use dish soap.
11. Consume milk in paper packages.
12. Use matches instead of plastic lighters.
13. Choose wood or glass boards instead of plastic.
14. Use metal utensils, cups and plates, not disposable ones.
15. Use natural cleaning cloths, not plastic scourers and sponges.
16. Pick up trash, especially near the ocean!
17. Use baking soda. It is an excellent alternative to deodorant.
