Christmas is quickly approaching, and many people in Poland are rushing to buy presents. Interestingly, it seems that second-hand gifts are becoming more popular.
It's officially gift-buying season, and shops overflow while people search for the perfect presents. Second-hand platforms are gaining immense popularity, and many people turn to them to shop.
Poles buy second-hand gifts
According to a survey by Stem Mark for Vinted, over 30% of Poles are open to receiving second-hand gifts. The survey found that books and clothes are the most desired items, with over 40% of respondents indicating their preference for these options.
Additionally, the OLX platform reports that the number of people selling second-hand items increases by 18% in November and December, while the number of buyers increases by 13%. It is important to note that these two months account for 25% of annual transactions in categories such as toys and electronics.
"The period before Christmas is a time when people search for bargains and unique items, often with a concern for the environment," OLX business analyst Konrad Grygo told Rzeczpospolita.
"The results of the Current Consumer Mood survey indicate that 60% of Polish consumers plan to avoid unnecessary shopping before Christmas, while 50% intend to seek out promotions," reports "Rzeczpospolita".
