Flying with a dog can be challenging due to the need for special pet carriers, travelling in luggage compartments, and the stress it can cause for your pet. Fortunately, Bark Air, an airline that prioritises the well-being of dogs, is set to launch in May.

Dog owners know how difficult it can be to travel with their furry friends, especially when flying on planes. Unfortunately, pets are usually not allowed on board the aircraft and must be kept in special carriers often stored in the cargo hold. This means that owners have to spend the entire journey away from their beloved pets, which can be very stressful for both the owner and the pet.

To address this issue, Bark Air, an airline specifically designed for dogs, will start its operations on Thursday, 23 May. Bark Air's employees are committed to ensuring dogs feel comfortable and relaxed during their travels. Dogs will no longer have to travel separately or be confined to uncomfortable carriers. Instead, they will be treated like VIP tourists on Bark Air's planes.

An airline created with dogs in mind

Bark Air was created with dogs in mind. That's why all the marketing is aimed at our four-legged friends. "We recognize that you might want to bring your human with you. After all, you need scratches. So, each dog ticket comes with a pass for one human," reads the FAQ on the airline's official website. As you can see, every ticket bought for a puppy comes with a special pass for a human.

Thanks to Bark Air, dogs will no longer be placed in uncomfortable carriers during air travel. Instead, they will be seated on luxurious couches and provided with special blankets that are infused with calming pheromones. In addition, they will be offered a "special champagne" (broth) to drink, which they will surely enjoy. Toys, treats, and chews will also be available for them to play with on board.

What are Bark Air’s destinations?

Bark Air will initially operate at selected New York, Los Angeles, and London airports. However, the airline has announced its plans to expand its route network soon. According to the dlapilota.pl portal, this luxury travel will be costly for passengers, with intra-USA tickets priced at $6,000 (PLN 24,000) and transatlantic flights costing $8,000 (PLN 32,000).
