More and more young Romanians are eager to learn Dutch. Tutors are struggling to meet the demand
Dutch, one of the languages spoken in the Netherlands, is becoming attractive to young Romanians.
In fact, the Netherlands is among the top choices for Romanian students, and many aspire to work there after graduation. However, Dutch is not an easy language to learn, and the costs can be higher when taught by a native speaker.

In Dutch, pronunciation can be a challenging obstacle at the beginning.
Mara is learning Dutch because she aspires to have a career in marketing in Amsterdam.
Mara Giuglea, student: "I even received job offers from there in HR or customer relations. I notice that when I work with clients from the Netherlands, they are very enthusiastic and more willing to have a conversation with you, build certain relationships and collaborate".
A company that develops software for surveillance systems is headquartered in the Netherlands. Five years ago, they opened an office in Cluj with just a few employees. And now they have grown to 25 employees.
Prices for individual sessions start at 200 lei
Matthijs Machielse, IT company Technology Director: "In Romania, we have found highly skilled people. It is always an advantage if you understand certain aspects specific to the Netherlands, our culture, and our language as well. Speaking Dutch is clearly a plus for those who want to work for us".
Those organizing courses say they have received increasingly more requests in recent years.
Iustinia Seciu, Dutch teacher: "I can hardly keep up. I even have clients from Romania who already are on their way to the Netherlands and Belgium".
Vera Bucoveanu, founder of a foreign language center: "Primarily, students seeking to study in Amsterdam or other cities are coming for languages courses, and there are also individuals who have requested courses in order to be able to work".
Amaris Sschuring, a student from the Netherlands: "I plan to stay longer in Romania, and since I am a native Dutch speaker, I think it would be useful to do something with that".
