On March 9, during the event in Bucharest, young people presented, among other innovations, applications aimed at aiding children with autism or individuals suffering from respiratory conditions.
Marius is 22 years old and a final year student at the Military Academy. He presented part of his project for his bachelor's degree.
Marius Prelipcean, student: "We would like to move away from conventional security systems, very large and often useless surveillance cameras that usually produce superfluous information".
He said that his device can be much more precise than a person looking at 50 monitors at the same time. Therefore, the error rate using the device can be computed more quickly compared to that of a human.
A team of young people also thought about children with autism: they created an application to help treat children. Surveillance cameras constantly monitor the child, and the application can tell the parent if the treatment applied is effective or not, without the family having to go to a therapist as often.
Georgia Bucea, student: "The application is made to meet the parents' need to have access to a behavioral therapist as quickly as possible. It responds in real-time and helps manage treatment at home".
After a three-month mentoring period, one of the 60 teams will win half a million euros, money to be then invested in their idea.
Dan Călugăreanu - partner Early Game Ventures: "The winning team will own 100% of the IP they generate".
Flavia Husar - Co-founder Innovation Labs: "We teach young people to build a technology startup from scratch. The half-million prize given by an investment fund and other prizes offered by us, based on their progress in the program".
The program was created in collaboration with major universities, and the following weekend it took place simultaneously in Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara and Iași.
