Kaja Godek’s foundation criticises Pride Month: "It’s promoting deviancy"
On Wednesday, 12 June, a note appeared on the Life and Family Foundation website, fronted by the well-known Kaja Godek, regarding the Municipal Public Library in Żory. The library's employees are celebrating Pride Month, which is deemed unacceptable by the associates of the famous anti-abortion activist.
Pride Month is an annual celebration held throughout June. It aims to commemorate the history and honour the individuals who have worked and continue to work for the LGBT+ community. It is a time for the LGBT+ community and its allies to celebrate diversity, promote self-acceptance, equality, and a sense of dignity, and draw attention to the issues faced by non-heteronormative people worldwide.

The Żory Municipal Public Library joined in celebrating Pride Month. Its staff organised various activities for children and young people, including a bag-painting workshop, meetings with Faith and Family Foundation representatives, and discussions on gender stereotypes. Kaja Godek and her colleagues from the Life and Family Foundation found this unacceptable. They organised a protest outside the library and wrote a text insulting the LGBT+ community.
Kaja Godek’s foundation does not accept Pride Month
On Monday, 11 June, a meeting titled "How does Queer represent the media?" was held at the Municipal Public Library in Żory. The event was open to people aged 15 to 19. According to the Life and Family Foundation staff, these are "sick ideas that will be pushed on young people at the workshop." Well, anti-abortion activists seem to think that even discussing the rainbow community is unacceptable. Moreover, activities like painting bags and discussing stereotypes are considered excessive.
"The meetings are set to continue throughout June, including bag painting in LGBT colours, of course. It's seen as cool and trendy, encouraging young people to embrace these colours. There will also be discussions on ‘gender stereotypes’. According to LGBT activists, the traditional images of women and men, shaped over generations, are stereotypes that need to be challenged," wrote Mikołaj Brzyski of the Life and Family Foundation.
Mikołaj Brzyski, the author of the text attacking the library and the LGBT community, finds it suspicious that participants are required to show signed consent from their parents. According to Brzyski, the staff of the Żory Municipal Public Library confirmed that "the deviations they want to present to children are not suitable for minors." In reality, minors will be under the care of the meeting organisers, so parental consent is simply required for participation in the event.
Life and Family Foundation’s protest in Żory
Employees of the Life and Family Foundation were so displeased with the meetings organised at the Żory Municipal Public Library that they made an effort to come to Żory to protest. They stood in front of the library with large banners, "warning against the dangers of the LGBT community." In doing so, they insulted the rainbow community by claiming that their aim was to "spoil children."
