How much is rent in European capitals? Many cities are cheaper than Warsaw
Renting a flat in Poland is getting more and more expensive. It appears that quite a few European capitals are a lot cheaper than Warsaw.
The average monthly cost of renting a square metre of a flat in Warsaw is ā¬15.2. As a result of the rapid rise in prices over the past few years, our capital has overtaken many other major European cities in this respect.

Renting in Warsaw is more expensive than in Prague and Rome
As reported by 300gospodarka.pl, according to data from the Deloitte Property Index 2023, one has to pay more to rent a flat in Warsaw than in almost all surrounding capitals: Prague, Bratislava, Budapest or Vilnius. Only in Berlin are rental prices comparably high.
Renting a flat in Warsaw is expensive not only in comparison with other capitals in the region. Cheaper flats can also be found in Rome, Lisbon, Athens and even Brussels. Sky high rental prices in the Polish capital are a real problem for students. It seems that in many places in Europe it will be easier for them to support themselves while attending a university than it is in Poland.
A unique place in terms of rental prices is Vienna, where this city owns many flats for rent. As a result, they are on average more than a third cheaper than in Warsaw. According to the Economic Research Institute data, the average monthly earnings of residents in Vienna amount to ā¬2,600. According to the Central Statistical Office (Polish: GÅĆ³wny UrzÄ d Statystyczny), monthly salary in Warsaw is ā¬1950 (gross).
