Romania remains a cheap country to visit despite inflation in recent years. A budget of around 700 euros can be enough for one person to spend 7 nights in the country, including accommodation, food and some attractions.

The exception is only some seaside or mountain destinations during the peak season. The country is also an attractive destination for Generation Z (people born from 1996 to 2010) who are thirsty for knowledge and adventure.

ACCOMMODATION

The cheapest option is a hostel, which will cost you 10 euros per night. A room for two in a 2/3-star hotel is 35 euros per night, and in a 4-star hotel - 50 euros, breakfast included. A good option is to rent an apartment from AirBnb. If you want to be pampered like a royalty - prepare 100 euros per night.

FOOD

Romania does not have a culture of eating out and most cities do not feature charming family restaurants. It would be advisable to allocate a budget from 20 to 30 euros for food per person per day.

In a cheap restaurant, you can have lunch for 6 euros for a soup and a main course. In a mid-range restaurant you can eat for about 12 euros per person, which includes a main course and a drink. Fast food chains offer delicious and inexpensive options. A large pretzel costs only 25 euro cents, a croissant and coffee - about 2 euros, and a large shawarma- 4 euros.

ENTERTAINMENT

Across the country, prices are generally the same when it comes to sightseeing, various forms of entertainment and public transport. Museums tickets or entry charges in other places vary from 2 to 10 euros per person. So, it is advisable to allocate a budget of around 100 euros for 7 days per person for attractions and entertainment.

However, there is a difference if you are at sea in Romania - then you need to have a higher budget, especially in mid-July or early August. You will need at least 50 euros per day per person for food and drinks, unless you are in an all-inclusive hotel. Chaise-longues (up to 10 euros per day) and parking (up to 20 euros per day) are also payable.
