Does "Love at First Sight" Really Exist?
"Love at first sight" - some describe it as a "deep attraction" or "instant strong connection", others explain it as a perception of "butterflies in the stomach" or simply an unwavering belief that this is the person with a capital "P".
Many believe that this feeling exists, but is love at first sight really possible? And does it matter if you don't experience it from the start?
The answer to the question "Is love at first sight true?" can be found in the definition of love. And it can be interpreted as a relationship between two people that is based on security, trust, safety and affection.
These factors cannot be present when meeting a certain person for the first time. On the contrary, they develop over time. So the answer is - no.
A study published in the Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism suggests that love at first sight is actually a strong attraction.
"What can develop is a strong attraction that involves an influx of hormones and neurochemical responses that motivate us to seek closeness and intimacy with the object of our attraction", explains Kristen Roye.
This feeling of strong attraction can then foster further strong connection and love.
According to Dr. Root, this feeling triggers a wave of hormones such as dopamine, norepinephrine and cortisol. It causes an instant rush of positive emotions that make people feel like they hav=ve found "the oright person".
Here are the signs to know if you have experienced this feeling:
Physical attraction – a few studies have concluded that a huge factor whether you experience love at first sight is the appearance;
Rushing into an instant relationship that the other person can feel;
A feeling of euphoria or complete happiness;
Emotional or spiritual attraction;
Frequent thoughts about the other person - studies show that thinking can be "obsessive";
The desire to spend more time with the other person;
A feeling that you are "meant to be together" or are soul mates.
If you are a minion of fortune and experience "ove at first sight", then you should know that it is mainly a strong physical attraction. This feeling is a great reason to continue your relationship with this person. But remember that real, true love unfolds and develops over time. And if it is true love, it will become more and more beautiful.
