Born to Win! The Incredible Story of Nikola Tsolov!
Nikola Tsolov is a Bulgarian car driver. Tsolov was born on 21 December 2006 in Sofia in the family of Mira and Dimitar Tsolov. His father is a computer specialist. When he was 9, his father took him to a kart race to the indoor karting track in Sofia Ring Mall and enrolled him in a children's sports camp at the National Sports Academy (NSA).
During the course, Nikolay Varbitsaliev, a former Formula BMW pilot in Germany, told his father a few words that turned Nikola's life upside down: "Your son has got a talent." Enthusiastically, his father took him to a casting at the Karting Academy for young drivers at the track in Kyustendil where he was professionally trained for the next two years. From an early age, Nikola showed good qualities, discipline and a desire to develop.
Nikola won the Republican Championship in the "Mini" class in 2016 and 2017; he won a couple of races in Greece and Romania, too. In 2018, he moved to the Italian championship, and a year later he won the World WSK OpenCup in the "Mini" class.
He then had his debut in the "OK Junior" class and was ranked the 7th in the world. In 2021, he started driving in the senior championship. Nicola was invited by Fernando Alonso to drive with him in the 2021 Dubai 24 Hours endurance race and there they got the third place. This was one of the happiest moments for the young Bulgarian.
A year later, Fernando Alonso founded his own management company: A14 Management and Nikola Tsolov had the honor to be the first driver to join the company and got a place in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship.
A few months later, Tsolov participated in the FIA Formula 3 post-season tests. In December 2022, the official website of Formula 3 announced that for the 2023 season, Tsolov would drive in the "ART Grand Prix" team. The greatest achievement of the Bulgarian has been that he officially has become part of the "Alpine F1 Racing Team" and the academy of the team for the development of young talents on their way to Formula 1.
The young competitor does not hide his big ambitions and has already told the media a couple of times that his big dream was to conquer Formula 1. Tsolov gave advice that Gen Z could benefit from:
"I would advise young people to be dedicated to what they are doing. To be sure that it is their thing and to give their best. Talent is 1%, but hard work can develop talent."
