A session of the Warsaw City Council disrupted. The responsible hold a grudge against Trzaskowski
On 6 July, activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement interrupted a session of the Warsaw City Council using megaphones they took to the meeting. One of them also handcuffed herself to a chair, demanding a meeting with the mayor of the city.
Extinction Rebellion is an international grassroots movement protesting against politicians' inaction on climate change. The activists are using peaceful acts of civil disobedience to force decision-makers to take action to protect the environment.

On 6 July, activists from the Polish capital's Extinction Rebellion disrupted a session of the Warsaw City Council. They came with megaphones and demanded a meeting with the mayor of the city. In response associates of the absent city mayor declared that the politician will meet with the activists.
Activists disappointed by Trzaskowski's policy
Activists are disappointed with the slow progress of implementation of the demands of the Warsaw Climate Panel. In November 2020, residents of the capital together with experts developed and proposed 49 recommendations for Warsaw. The aim of the initiative was to streamline the city's energy efficiency. Mayor Trzaskowski pledged that the recommendations would be implemented by the capital.
"It has to be said that the implementation of the Panel's provisions looks rather pathetic today. For example the energy-saving system, which was supposed to be introduced in all public buildings, is so far being introduced only in 10 Warsaw schools. Even in the projects the city boasts about claiming they are 'in an advanced state of implementation', the results are rather mediocre – only trial programmes are underway," the activists explain.

The activists came to the City Council session with megaphones. They quoted Trzaskowski talking about how climate protection is a priority. They called on the mayor to implement the provisions of the Warsaw Climate Panel.
The session was halted, a break was announced and negotiations with the activists began. Trzaskowski's colleagues (including Deputy Mayor Aldona Machniowska-Góra) promised to bring about a meeting between the activists and the mayor of the capital.
"With our high-profile protest, we want to push mayor Rafal Trzaskowski to take action that will bring us closer to the goal of 39 per cent energy efficiency by 2030 and help residents get out of energy poverty," the activists explain.
