What is love? Something sublime, platonic and spiritual, or a result of biochemical reactions in the human nervous system?

There are certainly many definitions and concepts that can hardly be united in a single and universal explanation. But one of the understanding and hypotheses of some people is that love is an illusion.

Sometimes it can also be triggered by post-breakup trauma, such as after breaking up with a significant other of many years and to whom you were deeply attached. However, such a pessimistic interpretation of love can only do harm in the future, even if it is the fruit of disappointment, it can kill the motivation to seek romantic and fulfilling relationships. The end result of such situations are often depression and other mental problems that affect the overall quality of life.

Love is something that is inherently linked to human nature, development and even civilization. Oxytocin, often called the "love hormone", is released in huge quantities not only in relationships, but also in pregnant women. This hormone is also important in sex, trust and social interaction.

Healthy relationships that last for years and decades are often associated with many other benefits, too—better health and even longevity, as researchers repeatedly confirm lower levels of stress, less cardiovascular disease and development of diabetes, which respectively leads to a longer life.

It is important to remind Gen Z that sometimes it is all about attitude. For example, according to a study from 2019, scientists found that having a positive attitude and perceiving your partner in a more positive frame of mind and positive bias has long-term effects – greater relationship satisfaction, less doubt and suspicions towards your partner, which brings less conflict in relationships, respectively.
