The number of people suffering from mental disorders in the world is still growing. The causes of mental illnesses are many, but we will try to give a more general overview of the most common phenomena. The list by no means claims to be full, but it is intended to be a guide to common conditions.

Depression -it affects about 300 million people worldwide. Depression is the most common mental disorder, especially among Gen Z, and generally affects women more often than men. It often features loss of interest or pleasure in normal life, sadness, guilt or low self-esteem, difficulty sleeping, changes in eating patterns, exhaustion and lack of concentration.

Anxiety – quite probably a person who has depression can also have anxiety (and vice versa). It affects 40 million US adults, or 18.1 percent of the population. Bipolar disorder is a condition when a person has both manic and depressive states and alternates between them. Manic episodes can include elevated or irritable mood, hyperactivity, even elevated self-esteem. Depressed - feelings of extreme sadness, hopelessness, little energy and trouble sleeping.

Schizophrenia - psychosis, including schizophrenia, is a severe mental disorder that affects about 23 million people worldwide and involves distortions in thinking, perception, emotion, self-esteem and behaviour.

Dementia - is usually chronic or progressive in its nature and results in a decline in cognitive function after normal aging. It affects about 50 million people worldwide. Almost nothing remains of memory, orientation and thinking with this diagnosis.
