We know how beneficial walking is for our health. A new study shows that to stay in shape, just 4,000 steps per day are sufficient, compared to the previously suggested "magic number" of 10,000.

Polish and American researchers have reached this new conclusion after testing over 200 thousand people worldwide. Of course, the more movement, the better.

The scientists' analysis has shown that every extra thousand steps per day reduces the risk of premature death by 15 percent.

According to the World Health Organization, insufficient physical activity is the FOURTH leading cause of mortality worldwide. Annually, over 3 million deaths are attributed to it.
