LGBTQ+ night at Disneyland. All thanks to the conservatives
On 13 and 15 June, events to celebrate Pride Month were held for the first time ever at Disneyland in California. This is Disney's response to a dispute with the Republican governor of Florida.
We have already written about how in response to the extremely queerphobic policies of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis the state has now lost a multi-million dollar investment that Disney had planned there. The studio's campus, which was supposed to employ 2,000 people, will not be built.

Disney has gone one step further in trolling Republicans trying to reverse progress on LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. This year, Disneyland in California hosted its first official Pride celebration at the venue under the theme: "Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite".
The event was held under the patronage of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Characters from classic Disney cartoons such as Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy were given special rainbow costumes to celebrate Pride Nite at Disneyland. Social media especially marvelled at a person dressed as Clarabella the cow with her energy and charisma (see below).
The emotional Pride Nites at Disneyland
The accounts of both nights are full of emotion, gratitude and hope. For queer people in the United States the support of childhood heroes means a lot. Like the Warsaw Equality Parade that marched through the streets of the capital on 17 June, such events are a safe space to breathe freely, be fully oneself and enjoy being together.
The climax of both nights of Pride Nite at Disneyland was a fireworks display over the iconic Disney castle. It was accompanied with the song "This Is Me" from the 2017 film "The Greatest Showman". The effect was truly intense, shiver-inducing and moving.
