Donatella Versace with a touching speech about the rights of LGBTQ+ community in Italy
Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace gave a touching speech about the rights of the LGTBQ+ community in Italy. It happened during Milan Fashion Week where the fashion icon got an award for humanitarianism and equality.
"Here in Italy, it has never been more important to give voice to the minority. Our government is on the verge of taking away the right of people to live the way they want. We must all fight for freedom," said Donatella Versace emotionally.

She then recalled how her brother Gianni Versace had admitted his sexual orientation when Donatella was only 11 years old.
"It didn't change anything for me. I loved him and I didn't care who he loved. His love and support made me who I am," she shared.
Donatella Versace did not stop there. She said that under the Italian law at the moment, children of same-sex parents are not considered to be their children by the community, that transgender people still suffer in the country. The fashion designer appealed for change and more rights for the LGTBQ+ community.
"I fight for freedom, equality and understanding every day. I created my family with my boundless love. My friends and team are not defined by their race, religion, age, gender or sexual orientation. If we were all more understanding and accepting towards other people, what a wonderful world it would be," concluded Donatella Versace.
