Influencer MrBeast breaks another record by clearing waters around the world
MrBeast's actions set him apart from other influencers. The online celebrity leverages his fame for a positive impact. Most recently, in collaboration with Team Seas, he successfully removed over 15,000 tons of waste from seas, rivers, oceans, and beaches.
The popularity of influencers continues to grow globally. Some have even surpassed the fame of actors, singers, or journalists. Their fans regularly buy products recommended by or created in collaboration with them. Some even participate in videos influencers make to be closer to their idols. While many influencers solely focus on gaining fame, others use their popularity to do something good.

MrBeast to the rescue again
Influencer MrBeast, an American YouTuber, boasts a subscriber base of over 303 million people. Known for his philanthropy, MrBeast donates a significant portion of his earnings to charitable causes, including building wells in Africa and houses in South and Central America. To document and promote his philanthropic efforts, he launched a dedicated channel, MrBeast Philanthropy, with 25.5 million subscribers.
In 2021, MrBeast partnered with former NASA employee and fellow YouTuber Mark Rober to create the Team Seas initiative. This project aims to clean the oceans, rivers, seas, and beaches of litter. To promote Team Seas, MrBeast enlisted the help of other online creators, along with support from DJs and music producers Tiesto and Zedd, as well as billionaire Austin Russell. The ambitious goal set by MrBeast and Mark Rober was to remove 34 million pounds (15,422 tonnes) of litter from waters around the world.
Yet another MrBeastās success
On 16 July 2024, MrBeast announced a significant achievement. Thanks to the support of donors to the TeamSeas initiative, the organisation has met its ambitious target. A counter on the project's website tracks its progress, and at the time of writing, TeamSeas has removed 34,080,191 pounds (15,458.5 tonnes) of rubbish from the world's waters and surrounding beaches.
Despite this success, MrBeast is not stopping here. He emphasises that hundreds of thousands of tons of rubbish remain in the oceans, seas, and rivers and must be removed to ensure a safe habitat for fish, mammals, molluscs, and crustaceans.
