Veganuary is an annual event where people switch to a plant-based diet. Wondering if it makes sense? Here's everything you need to know about what to cook during this time.

If you're still struggling to come up with any ideas for your 2024 New Year's resolutions, I have an excellent suggestion for you! What if you were to reduce your meat consumption next year? I'm not suggesting that you go vegan straight away, but incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet can be a great alternative to meat.

It's especially easy to make this change in January, which has long been a big celebration for vegans and vegetarians. Veganuary begins on 1 January, and you can find tips and information about the event on their website.

Veganuary: What is it?

Veganuary is an annual event launched by a UK-based non-governmental organisation in 2014. The main objective of this event is to encourage people to switch to a plant-based diet for the entire month of January. Veganuary offers a special newsletter on veganuary.com to provide daily motivation for vegan cooking and to offer exciting recipes.

In 2022, more than 620,000 people signed up for Veganuary, and up to 98% would recommend the event to their friends. Participants from over 220 countries participated in this event, and more than 1,500 new vegan recipes and products were added to the website.

Our vision is simple: we want a vegan world. A world without animal farms and slaughterhouses. A world where food production does not decimate forests, pollute rivers and oceans, exacerbate climate change, and drive wild animal populations to extinction

Veganuary: Is it worth trying?

If you're curious why you should try vegan cuisine, the answer is simple: it's delicious. While giving up meat is important for the environment and animal welfare, vegan food is also just plain good.

You don't have to worry about tofu being bland, as a wide range of tasty plant-based substitutes are available. We've already tried and tested veggie burgers and mayo for you, among other things.

Don't forget that vegan fast food options are also available, such as the vegan nuggets at KFC. While not the healthiest choice, participating in Veganuary doesn't mean you have to give up your favourite non-vegan foods. However, if you're looking for a recommendation, Max Burger has some seriously good burgers worth trying.

Veganuary: What to cook?

If you're looking for recipes to try during Veganuary, we have some great recommendations. Check out our suggested blogs and recipes for delicious and inspiring dishes like tofu, sauerkraut cream, veggie stuffed cabbage, and even non-vegan carbonara.

One of our recent discoveries is Julita and her "Biedanizm" blog, perfect for those looking to save money, have fun, and enjoy delicious vegan food. Some of her standout recipes include "patofalafel" and her "Do gara i nara" series, perfect for people with busy schedules who still want to eat well.

We strongly encourage you to participate in Veganuary and discover how tasty and satisfying plant-based foods can be. You might even find that meatless bacon is more delicious than you expected! By making this change, you will contribute to a healthier planet and show compassion for animals. To get started, take our vege quiz and find out which vege product is right for you.
