New temperature records were set in many parts of Europe with long and intense heat waves.

On the Old Continent, temperatures are about 2.5 degrees higher than they would be without human intervention on the climate, according to the study by Imperial College London.

It also shows that because of human activity, the USA and Mexico are 2 degrees warmer, and temperatures in China are 1 degree higher.

Climate change is a very serious threat and its effects have been impacting many different aspects of our lives.

In Europe, heat waves killed more than 60,000 people in 2022. In the United Kingdom, asphalt on roads melted. In India, there are at least 1,000 deaths per year due to extreme heat. According to the forecasts of the World Health Organization, due to climate change, by 2030 there will be 250,000 new deaths worldwide.

Almost all heat waves are exacerbated by climate change.

According to climatologist Friederike Otto, what used to be rare heatwaves are now normal summers.

The facts show that if the climate had not changed due to human intervention since the 19th century, heat waves like the current one simply would not have happened.

Scientists have already proven that the large heat waves in Siberia in 2020 and the Australian fires in 2019-2020 were partially caused by climate change, and that it is highly unlikely that the 2021 heat wave in North America would have occurred without climate change.

The expert Jakob Zscheischler also claims that heat waves are the result of climate change. He is head of the Working Group on Weather and Climate Phenomena at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Leipzig.

"In the case of extreme heat, the impact of climate change is very clear and we can say that almost every heat wave has been enhanced by climate change", explained the expert.

Generation Z are aware that they are the ones who will bear the brunt of the consequences of climate change. Therefore, it is an important cause for them.

Climate cases have been brought to the European Court of Human Rights by young people who want to change policy in the fight against climate change.
