What Don’t You Know about Adam and Eve
The story of Adam and Eve is one of the most popular stories in the Bible. Actually, it is the foundation of creationism (the idea that everything was created by a supernatural deity) and includes concepts such as original sin. Everyone has heard of the first man and the first woman, yet, there is also a lot you do not really know.
The fact is that you can find similar stories in other cultures and religions. For example, the ancient Egyptian god of fertility Khnum created people from clay. The same is true of the Greek fire god Prometheus, who also created humans.
It is little known that Adam actually had two wives. The first one, named Lilith, was cast out of the Garden of Eden for disobeying her husband. Lilith features in the Jewish mythology, then she turns into a demon. Only then Eve was created from one of Adam's bones, which according to most Hebrew translations is a rib.
Another important image in the story of Adam and Eve is the serpent. According to the Qur’an, it is a direct image of the Devil, but in Judaism it has nothing to do with the Devil. So, the question marks become more and more, with some things shrouded in mystery and interpreted differently by religions and cultures. Including the forbidden fruit, which you all think is most likely an apple, but the Bible does not specifically mention that the fruit is an apple. In reality, it comes from a translation from Latin in the fourth century. Then the fruit was described with the word "malus", which means both evil and apple. After that, little by little, the idea of the apple took hold, and so it has remained in history.
Even today, there are many questions surrounding the story of Adam and Eve, their existence, even the location of the Garden of Eden. Will we ever know the full truth?
