Global climate change and increasing awareness on protection of environmental are encouraging European cities to invest in sustainable solutions for the future. Among those cities are Zurich, Stockholm, London and Copenhagen, which have taken the lead in developing and implementing ambitious plans to protect the environment and create sustainable urban environments.

One of the most important goals of these cities is to reduce their carbon footprint and switch to using renewable energy sources. Zurich, for example, has an ambitious goal of becoming a carbon-zero city by 2050. It has already been installing solar panels and using geothermal energy to reduce its dependence on oil and coal.

Stockholm is known for its waterways and clean nature. The city is actively investing in public transport and cycle lanes to reduce the use of cars and air pollution. Further, Stockholm offers a variety of green areas for its citizens and is moving towards the use of environmentally friendly materials in construction.

London has taken important steps towards a more sustainable future, too. The city is developing plans to reduce transport emissions by introducing taxes on polluting cars and encouraging the use of public transport and bicycles. London is also investing in renewable energy sources and promoting energy efficiency in buildings.

Copenhagen, known as the cycling city, is leading the way in developing sustainable infrastructure. The city has an extensive network of cycle lanes and offers its citizens easy access to bicycle rentals. Copenhagen also aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and actively promotes the use of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power.

These cities area aware that young GenZ people are a key factor in creating a sustainable future. They are a generation that shows great interest and active citizen position on the environment. Each of these cities works closely with young people to ensure that sustainable development plans reflect their needs and ambitions.
