It can be incredibly frustrating and unsettling to have to wait for a long time just to register with a doctor. When we're feeling unwell, especially if we're experiencing symptoms like a fever or sore throat, the last thing we want is to spend hours on the phone with a clinic receptionist. However, there may be hope for improvement in this situation in the near future.

The mObywatel app and its features are gaining immense popularity in Poland. Many people have stopped carrying physical documents in their wallets as they can access them electronically on their mobile phones. The e-Rejestracja (e-Registration) is another option that will soon be available alongside the electronic ID and e-driving license.

E-Rejestracja is a government platform that was supposed to launch in early 2023 but faced logistical issues. The Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna, has announced that the platform will now be available from 1 June 2024. The Civic Coalition representative claims that e-Registration will help solve the problem of long queues to see doctors and specialists.

Will e-Registration solve the problem of long waiting times?

The Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna, recently appeared on TrĆ³jka Radio, where she discussed her hopes for the government's e-Registration platform. According to her, this platform is one of the key ways in which the long queues for doctors and specialists may be reduced. "This is one of the means to reduce waiting times. The second goal is to build appropriate IT systems to be used by doctors," Leszczyna stated in the interview.

Geekweek.interia.pl reports that the implementation of e-Registration will not happen immediately on a large scale and will take place in phases. In the first phase of the platform's implementation, patients will only be able to make appointments with doctors from a few specified fields that are yet to be announced.

Leszczyna has stated that the platform should shorten queues, as a 'watchdog' option will be introduced to control available appointment slots and ensure that no appointment goes unused or wasted. This will be the responsibility of employed coordinators.

E-Registration hotline

Polish citizens will soon be able to schedule a doctor's appointment online. However, the Ministry of Health will also launch a special hotline for those without access to digital technology. Patients will be able to manage their appointments using the system, including cancelling them.
